Rachel + Stanton

Welcome to part 2 of last week's double-header wedding weekend. Enjoy and congrats to the couple! I was wondering why the groomsmen wanted a picture with a fire hydrant and then a fire truck came after the ceremony. Two plus two: firemen.

Check out Carrie and Vall's wedding preview below as well. It was just posted last night I don't want it to get the shaft.

Carrie + Vall

This past weekend was my first "double-header" wedding weekend, with a wedding on Friday and Saturday! Friday was Carrie and Vall. It was an outdoor wedding and the weather was ominous right til the time of the ceremony, but there was no rain! Way to go Carrie for being courageous and sticking with her decision for an outdoor wedding. And I took my first carriage ride.

Tip of the day: Do not stand under the horse of a horse-drawn a carriage! The merry beast drooled a lot.

I love the colors on the girls below.

Casey + John

A few of these pictures were taken during "golden hour," a term I drill into my photography students (I teach photography at a local high school for those of you who didn't know) for an entire semester. Golden hour actually happens twice a day, about thirty minutes after sunrise and thirty minutes before sundown, so golden hours if you will. This is the time of day when the world looks the warmest. If you were to look at life through rose-colored glasses, life might look a bit like golden hour. It's that pretty.

Casey and John got married at the church my mom grew up in. My mom is my assistant, so she saw a bunch of people from yesteryear. I got a lot of "You're all grown up!" and "Look at little Mary!" type comments. Love it!

Tip of the day: Golden hour lighting also creates nice, long shadows. I saw my shadow in a few of the pictures and I looked quite tall and mighty! May we all live up to our shadows.

Val + Adam

Adam and Val were one of the first weddings I ever booked! I did their engagement session and they were a featured couple on my website. It has been so great getting to know them over these past eight months. Their wedding was just as awesome as they are! Here are a few pictures from the day. More to come...

Tip of the day: Call me a stalker but the longer I aim the camera at person, the more likely I am to catch a great moment or expression. Try it, maybe not with a camera phone, that's just weird.

Amy + Frank: Sneak Peek

I was a film major in college so I am all about previews and sneak peeks. Here's Amy and Frank, my July 19 wedding.

Tip of the day: Swing sets make for great pictures of the young and old.

Serenity + Mike

This past weekend I shot Mike and Serenity's wedding. Great people, great ceremony, great food! It was the first wedding of the season where I noticed the high temperature. I need to get one of those hats you wear that squirts mist in your face. That might make for interesting, misty/diffused pictures.

Tomorrow I try out my new 70-200mm lens. I'm very excited!

Tip of the day: Perk of photographing weddings - you get to see some sweet rides! The other week I saw a classic Bentley and this week Mike and Serenity had a stretch Hummer. Call me small town, but it was so cool. And I keep running into the same limo driver almost every week! Shout out to Carl!
