Weighed Down.

Today was day #5 off school! I have loved this time off. I read a Ted Dekker book, "Blink of an Eye." It is action, mystery, with a little love story thrown in for the ladies. I liked it. We even had some non-electricity friends stay with us the past couple nights. So fun! I suspect I'll be back into the swing of things by Monday. Could be a good thing: after this hibernation I feel slightly heavier, like my pine friend up above.

And of course, I took pictures. I went out a couple mornings and waited for the sun to come out. Love the blue!

Snow Days.

Today is day #3. I woke up this morning, looked outside and witnessed a long shower of snowflakes, covering the ice and the tracks daring neighbors who ventured out last night. Monday were were slushed in, Tuesday we were iced in, and today we are snowed in. Well, not completely "in." Elizabeth and I just came back from exploring. It is beautiful! Today my plans are: play in snow, read, drink warm beverages, watch a movie, edit Mary and Jeff's wedding, update website. Yes, I am in the process of updating Mary Lashbrook Photography. Everyday I realize how much I love this part of my life. It is more than just a part of my life at this point, it's consumed me! And a photographically consumed person should have an updated website. Look for new pictures and colors within the next couple weeks!

To do.

Hi all. A few bits of news:

a. I shot my first wedding in six weeks this past Saturday. Jeff and Mary were one the happiest and completely lovely couples I have worked with. I guess all my couples are happy and in love but these two really exemplified it. Pictures to come shortly.

b. It is tax season. I have a great accountant. Yay for Katherine the accountant and yikes for the season.

c. I'm cold.

d. School started last week. I have nine students this semester. It's a change from my usual 20. They are very studious pupils thus far.

e. I am reading a very funny wordy book called "Ella Minnow Pea" and it has challenged me to use words like studious and pupils.

f. I do not have any weddings til March! Time off is great. I am planning on updating my website and business cards. I also have great aspirations to watch lots of movies I missed last year and to read a lot as well. Check out the stack in my room.

A Holly Jolly Christmas. Part 2.

Here is a little picture overview of Christmas Day this year. 2008 was a big year for me, with the business and all, so this Christmas Day I was content to sit on the couch, coffee in hand, and observe everything around me. Every now and then I was pulled back from said observation as I ducked my head to avoid flying wrapping paper whenever the boys tore into their gifts. Love it! Everything was wonderful. Yay for family.

So this is Christmas.

My mom, pie maker and cake maker (a.k.a. baker) extraordinaire.

Noah got Tickle Me, Dancing, Singing, I'm Your Friend Elmo. We weren't sure if he was going to cry when they first were introduced. He loved it!

My brother, David. And today is his birthday!

Bro love.

Our annual Christmas sausage balls. Yum.

It was a musical Christmas for Nathan. He drums and a recorder. Here he is, playing both at the same time. He's very talented.

Recorder solo.

Noah got a kitchen. I wish my kitchen was that happy!

A Holly Jolly Christmas. Part 1.

Christmas break came and went a lot faster than this log of fruit cake was consumed, I'll tell you that right now. It was wonderful though. I finished all my 08 weddings right in time! What a relief. This past year was so busy I feel like I did not stop until it was time to put out cookies for Santa. I am back at school, beginning a new photography class. I introduced myself to my students yesterday and launched into a semester of the history of photography, critiquing photography, components of photography, and yes, taking a ton of pictures.

I know I need to blog.

Hello everyone! It's 2009! I am enjoying my last couple days off school, and now (finally) off photography. I will be back and better than ever soon!

Enjoy this beautiful weather!
